To top off a fun-filled week of Jogging for Jake, Jake's Jamboree and Teed off at Cancer, the 4th Annual Shake for Jake was the main event for the week. Bright green and white decorations and warm smiles of volunteers greeted guests entering the West Monroe Convention Center. A new addition to this year's event was "Jake's Store." Party-goers could purchase "Jake" merchandise including Jake Own Raborn Foundation coozies, handmade bracelets, t-shirts and more. The silent and live auctions were full of unique items. The party would not be complete without a night of dancing to the sounds of Fly By Radio.
The Jake Owen Raborn Foundation's mission is to provide monetary relief for families who are fighting pediatric cancer and to provide support to agencies or organizations that help in the fight against pediatric cancer. The goal of the foundation is to become nationally recognized as the leading agency for family assistance in pediatric cancer. The foundation was named for the son of Staci and Don Raborn who lost his battle with a rare form of liver cancer at age four in October 2006.
